I have my shirt on.I guess I should probably get a hat, but I am looking at specifically startinga new Google my business profile. And this business profile isnear and dear to my heart. And this profile is especially importantto me because it’s for my Aunt Maria. I’m trying to help her starther brand new business. I’m really excited for her. So let’s get going. OK, guys, so we are going to be building abrand new Google, my business profile, first place you’re going togo is Google.com/business.
So whatever you want to create a new profile, whenever you want to log intoyour dashboard to see what’s going on with Google my business,Google dot com business. And I actually had to create a videojust about accessing Google my business. So remember this book market,Google.com/business.
So we’re going to go to manage now and this is bringing meinto my dashboard now. I’m controlling a lotof different locations. So of course, I’m going to you’regoing to see a lot more here. That’s OK.Don’t be overwhelmed by that. Usually only have one location or you’llbe creating a brand new location. That’s what I’m going to do rightnow is at a single location. And it brings me to this pagewhere I’m going to create. So when I’m usually teaching in mywebinars, I’m telling you guys, this is the screen where you’re going tostart typing in your business name. Now, Maria’s businessname is The Healing Door. She’s the only one that’s got that name in the Google Universe andGoogle my business. So it says Create abusiness with this name. I’m going to click.
Yes. Now, this is where we confirm thebusiness name, the healing door. I’m going to click on next. And it’s saying business category. Now, Maria’s business isall about it’s about Reiki. It’s about as basically holistic energy. And it’s kind of like meditation in a way, except Maria is pouring her positiveenergy into whoever the client is. She can do it not only when someone’sright there, she can do it remotely. And I’m going to tell you, as someone who’s hired, who’s going all the time,who’s super stressed, just moved interstate from Massachusetts to NewHampshire, living in the pandemic, running a business, having twokids, all that stuff. When I sat down and Maria said, OK, all Iwant you to do is just lay down and be open and receptive, I’m telling you likethat I was knocked out an hour later. I woke up my back, felt good. I was doing chores around the house. I felt like a big weight had been lifted. So it’s really cool what she’s doing.Maybe you believe in it. Maybe you don’t.
That’s no problem. But here’s what we’re going to do. So since Maria is doing Reiki,let’s see Reiki therapist. So that is a category that is actually predetermined and it’sin Google my business. I get the question all the time. Well, I do something like that, but Ican’t find the category that makes sense. You’ve got to find when you’re on the screen choosing the category that bestfits your business, you can add up to nine or ten categories total so you can addnine additional categories after the fact. But right now, this isour primary category. This is if someone were looking for our business, our products, our services,how we would be classified. So since Maria does Reiki, we’regoing to do Reiki therapist next. Do you want to add a location customerscan visit like a store or office? Yes, Maria practices in her house. She has a new she built out her wholebasement into a studio, into a workspace. So we’re going to click.Yes. OK, and I’m going to type in her address. And I’ll click next. And says, do you also servecustomers outside of this location? Well, as I just said, she does remote. So she is a hybrid business. She has people coming to her place of business and she also can servicethem outside of her business. And it’s really cool because she can stillbe sitting in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and help me all the way up herein Manchester, New Hampshire.
So I’ll click. Yes, I also serve themoutside my location. Now it’s going to ask youto add service areas. Here’s the deal, there are alot of people that try to. Kind of gaming the system, right, and I could do that, too, I could say, hey,we service all the United States. Guess what?It doesn’t work like that. If someone’s looking up a Reiki therapistand they’re in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Denver, Colorado,
orLos Angeles, California. Maria is all the way up herein Mansfield, Massachusetts. Those other people across the countryprobably aren’t going to see her. So as a rule of thumb, try to keep it within 20 miles of whereyou’re where you’re located. So for Maria will do Mansfield, what we could just do in Massachusetts,so do Massachusetts. She also can service Rhode Island. She can service New Hampshire.And there you go. So that covers about 20 mile radius for her, so Massachusetts, Rhode Island,New Hampshire will click next. And then he’s going to ask for her phone number, so let me switch over,I have her website open. I’m going to scroll down. We just built this website for her andWebley, and I’m going to go to contact. And there is the phone number. So grab that, pop it intheir current website.

14 days. It depends right now,especially in election season. We’ve got mail in ballots. We have all this stuff going onwith USPS and everything else. It might be slower than five days. So what you’re going to do and what I’mgoing to tell Maria to do is she’s going to keep an eye out for apostcard that says Google on it. It looks like it’s probably one ofthose spam postcards, but it’s not. It’s a postcard that saysGoogle and says open up. It will have a code inside when Mariareceives that code at her place of business, she’s going to then go to Googledot com business and type in her code. This way, it allows Google toverify that you’re Google.
My business profile is tiedto your physical location. Why? Because it helps Google to really kindof crack down on fake businesses. Right.And the big thing here is someone, some uncouth, unethical individual could try tostart 20 businesses and Maria’s area, all trying to be Reiki therapists or holisticmedicine or meditation or any of those. Well, Marie is a real legitimate business. She’s tied to a physical address because she verified with the postcardthrough Google my business.
Now she can show up on Google Searchand Maps will click on Continue. And now it’s going to askfor the business hours. OK, I got it right here Monday throughFriday, 6:00 a.m. to eight p.m.. So you just got tochoose all of the day’s. 6:00 a.m.. You have to make sure this is where youcan get some people actually choose the wrong things, so some people chooseeight a.m. because it’s the first one. Make sure you look andread these hours properly. So 6:00 a.m. we got to do it each time,which is kind of painful, but sitting in. And I used to say, now let’ssee what is going to ask for. Out of business description, great, well, guess what? Going home.
And here we go. This is our business description, so I’m going to copy thatright from her website. I’m going to pop it in here. Now, here’s the deal. When we’re working on business description, I’m actually going to haveanother video and I’ll make sure that it shows up above me, you’ll seea little eye in a circle. Click on that. It will actually be a video all about building your business description. For right now, I’m using what was writtenon Maria’s website as a placeholder. There is there are definitely best practices when it comes to creatinga Google my business description.
It’s something that you’re not justwriting for the search engine. So you’re not going to stuffa bunch of keywords in there. This is someone this is meant for someone who’s actually looking for meditationor positive energy or Reiki therapy. And they’re going to find Maria’sbusiness on Google Search Maps. We’re writing this description for them. We’re telling them more about our business, about our story, aboutwhy they should work with us. So, again, I’ll have a whole video allabout business descriptions where I’m showing you some good ones, some not sogood ones, and some ideas on how to create your business description that’sgoing to be showing up above. But for right now, for time sake, I’m justgoing to use what was on Maria’s site. So we want to pop in there and do a littlejust make it look nice. OK, we’ll go save. Now we can add photos, so this is where, of course, we have some photos that are onMaria’s website, but Google, my business doesn’t just allow you tocopy the link and pop it in. You actually have to downloadthe image and upload the image. I’m going to do one and I’m goingto tell you why I’m doing this.
I’m going to open up thisimage and a new tab. So what I’m doing is I’m right clicking on the image and I’m clickingopen image and new tab. Now we’re seeing her beautiful sign thatshe had made the healing door and I’m going to save thisimage, so I right click. I say save this image. Here’s what I want you guys to do. I’m going to have another video all abouthow you should be naming your files. So this is a file. It’s a JPEG file. It’s a photo file. And see how it says image,blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That doesn’t tell us anything andit doesn’t tell Google anything. So what we’ve got to do instead iswe’ve got to say, OK, the healing door. I want you to notice I’m using hyphens in between each wordand then we’re going to do. Reiki therapy. Mansfield, Massachusetts.
OK, so what I just did is I put keywords into the image filename,so the healing door, Reiki therapy, Mansfield, Massachusetts,why do we do that? Well, because it helps search engines likeGoogle to understand what this image is. Otherwise, Google just knows it asimage 022 and all a bunch of integers. That doesn’t help us at all. So now Google will see this has to do withthe healing door of business, Reiki therapy, and it’s located inMansfield, Massachusetts. Again, look up above me. You’ll see a little eye andyou can click on the video. I’ll be teaching you more about howto name your files moving forward. And this goes with files that you uploadto Google my business files that you upload on your emails, filesthat you upload to your website. There’s a best practice hereand it’s all for SEO value. So let me click save now. I’m going to go back hereand it says Add photos. Sure.I’m going to select the photo for my computer and I’m going tochoose the healing door. Reiki therapy.Mansfield, Mass. Great. And so do my business uploads it, and for right now, we’ll click nextas a best practice, you want to upload at least five photos, at leastfive photos to your Google? My business profile.
How To Create a Business Growth Strategy
After I do this , I’m going togo back and upload those photos. Those photos will include your logo. They’ll include maybethe front of your store. If you have a store, they’ll include,let’s say, your team members. If you have vans or trucks or anything like that, they’ll show your automobileso that people know who you are. When you show up, you canshow before and afters. You could show products that you share. You could show the service in action. So there’s a lot of things you can do. Again, we’ll have ideas foryou coming up the pipeline. So I’ll click on next. Your business profile is almost ready. OK, continue. So here we go, I’m in the business dashboard, so I havesuccessfully created the Healing Door, a Reiki therapy business locatedin Mansfield, Massachusetts. Now, Murray is going to be excited. I know when I share this video, whether she’s going to scream, oh,she’s going to be so excited. I know it, but we’re not done yet. See, it says right here, pending verification, the postcard is goingto arrive within five to 14 days. So once Maria gets that postcard, she’ll provide the code to me and I’llbe able to verify the business. He’s got to type in the code. And Google knows that yourbusiness belongs to that address. Notice here, it says, OK, yourlistings almost complete, 80 percent. We’ve got to add a logo. Well, right now we’re building out Maria’s logo file actually fromthe sign that she has. So we’re taking this imagery andwe’re turning it into a logo for her. Once we do that, we’ll beable to upload the logo. And that way she’ll be well represented when it shows up, when her businessshows up on Google search and maps. A couple other things to show you.
Turning on messaging. Messaging allows someone that would actually be on their phone andthey’d be searching for Rakhi near me or, you know, meditation or power. Energy near me. Maria’s business might show up. Well, that person may have a question. So when they see the Google my business profile on their phone, they can click onmessages and now they can message Maria directly and say, hey,do you have openings? How do I book, blah, blah, blah? It allows Maria to hit them in real time,capture that prospect, that person that wants to work with her and ultimatelyconvert them into a customer. Really powerful stuff because every salematters, especially now where we have covered in everything elsecelebrating black owned business.
Guess what? Maria’s black and she hasa black owned business. So guess what we want to do.Black owned. We want to do women led. That’s two things. Now we’re in attributes. Attributes is something. And I have a whole video about optimizing, but I’m just covering some of the mainthings that show up on the dashboard because Maria is as black, sheis a black owned business. Makes sense.And she’s a woman. She’s it’s a women led business. The reason why we would choose theseattributes is because people choose to support these types of businesses andspecifically people are trying to put equity back into the black communityby supporting black owned businesses. People are trying to support womenleaders and women entrepreneurs. So that’s why we’resaying it’s women lead. Is it wheelchair accessible entrance? Yes. Does it have a restroom?Yes. Is it a unisex restroom?Yes. Is appointment required?Yes. Is mass required?Yes. Does the staff wear masks?Yes. These are all things peopleare searching for now. So Google, my business is adding these in as attributes instead of you havingto type in the healing door. We wear masks. You’re choosing an attribute right here so that people can seewhen they’re searching. If you meet their safety guidelinesas it LGBTQ friendly, of course.
Online care. Yes. We’ve just set up her attributes. And there we go, so we have a few morethings that we can do, but for right now, I just wanted to show you how to buildreally simply within I think it was just a few minutes how to build aGoogle my business profile. And what we’ll do is we will optimize thisprofile and then we’re going to run Maria’s business throughour Get Found pro program.
